Karin Kihlberg & Reuben Henry Karin Kihlberg and Reuben Henry's practice centers around concepts concerning the documentary and the fictive. Their practice is not bound to any specific medium but engages instead in discourses that respond to situations and locations where the medium forms an integral part. In a recent work commissioned by Aspex Gallery they have revisited the many cinemas in operation on Portsea Island between the turn of the 20th century to their post-war decline searching for the physical locations where the image once was projected. In this new work the artists explore the cinema's architectural and cultural space to engage in a historical narrative where time and place collide. A series of still photographs from this work will be shown in the exhibition Shall/Will. |
